Ever thought about therapy and just not known where to start?
Ever had therapy but just not ‘clicked’ with your therapist?
Ever felt like therapy ‘isn’t for you’ and soldiered on alone?
Raven Therapy aims to work collaboratively with each individual. We don’t dictate what therapy you ‘should’ or ‘should not’ have, or which therapist you ‘should’ or ‘should not’ choose. We will talk it through with you, listen, make suggestions, give options – but in the end it will be your call. The therapy you choose with Raven will be for you. After all – who knows you better than you?
Perhaps, sometimes, you don’t feel that’s true. We can all lose ourselves, and for a thousand different reasons. It can be hard to see ourselves with the clarity of others. A therapist can be a mirror; we see ourselves in their reflections, and find our way back.
Or perhaps we do see ourselves – but we don’t like what we see. A therapist can bring awareness of traits, behaviours, thoughts and feelings we find troublesome. At Raven we raise awareness through compassion, empathy, non-judgement, and a desire to accept and support you just as you are. Awareness is the first step to real change – but also to acceptance. Carl Rogers wrote:
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” *
In other words, self-acceptance fosters self-compassion. And from that gentle foundation we are able to grow, adapt, and transform.
